Public Services Librarian

The American University of Sharjah Library seeks an enthusiastic and creative librarian to join its service oriented team as Public Services Librarian. This position is a temporary two year contract.  The Public Services Librarian will be responsible for liaising with the College of Engineering and for providing instruction, reference and collection development.  This position will work collaboratively with colleagues to promote library awareness and use.

 

Required: ALA accredited MLS, ideally with 2 years of public service experience in an academic library; commitment to working in a culturally diverse learning environment; strong service orientation, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.  Preferred: Degree in the physical sciences and/or engineering and experience in a scientific or engineering academic library.

 

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work collegially and effectively with others, solve problems, meet deadlines, and thrive in an environment of constant change; excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills are also essential.
