DIGITAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN

Rank: Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian
Salary: Minimum salary of $57,084 for Senior Assistant or $65,628 for Associate Librarian and an excellent benefits package. Salary and rank
are dependent on qualifications and experience. This is a 12-month tenure-track position.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program or its equivalent degree if earned from outside the U.S. or Canada. Strong customer service commitment; excellent interpersonal, analytical, oral, and written communication skills; ability to adapt well to change and to be flexible; ability to utilize emerging technologies as appropriate; demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively with colleagues, faculty and staff in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment; ability and commitment to working in a culturally and ethnically diverse campus community; capability and commitment to engage in research and continued professional development worthy of promotion and tenure as a faculty member in the California State University system.
Desirable Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of digital library content and metadata standards (such as EAD and Dublin Core), and demonstrated competence with XML highly desirable. Demonstrated experience with current digital collection architectures and platforms, such as CONTENTdm and DSpace. Familiarity with institutional repositories management, including policy matters, intellectual property issues and strategies for securing appropriate content. Demonstrated service experience with diverse populations. Experience with project management and grant writing. Minimum of one year experience managing digital collections is highly desired. Minimum of one year of professional library experience in an academic or research library. Additional degree in information or computer science-related discipline, or experience with metadata and systems architecture. Demonstrated leadership ability with a record of flexibility, creativity, and commitment to diversity. Experience mentoring, supervising and developing staff.

At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States. Evidence of degree(s) required at time of hire.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will provide vision and direction for a growing suite of services supporting scholarship; provide leadership in the continued development and management of the CSUN digital archives; keep current with the latest technologies, and develop and implement ideas for applications in new and current services; provide expertise and leadership for current and future CSUN e-scholarship projects, such as electronic journal publishing and data curation; provide expertise on intellectual property issues; maintain awareness and develop in-depth knowledge of new technology, relevant national standards and best practices related to digitization and scholarship; and coordinate resource management and training for digitization and associated standards. Work cooperatively and maintain effective, creative, and flexible working relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff and students. Work closely and cooperatively with the Curator of Special Collections and Archives, Cataloging Coordinator, and Collection Development Coordinator. Incumbent will serve at the reference desk and provide some classroom instruction, with some evening and weekend hour assignments.
