LSSI seeks an energetic, quick learner with library experience for a part-time Library Technician position at a US government library that is focused on international business. This job requires someone available to work Thursdays and Fridays, as well as additional coverage as needed.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- retrieving specific reports from known databases
- searching a comprehensive database to complete name checks
- cataloging and processing of new library materials
- sorting mail and routing periodicals
- performing assorted technical services, such as: inter-library loan, circulation and shelving
- assisting with opening and closing of the library
- completing special assignments as needed
Successful candidates will function well in a fast-paced environment and work well both independently and as part of a team.
An ideal candidate should have:
- experience working in a library
- a college degree; MLS or MLS student preferred
- availability to work Thursday and Friday, as well as additional days as needed
- an understanding of general library technical services and resources
