Salary Range: $3,524 - $5,639/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Non-Exempt classification. Scheduled work hours may be temporarily adjusted to meet special operational needs of the University and unit.

Essential Job Functions: Under the direct supervision of the Associate University Librarian, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing daily operations of Special Collections. Duties include but are not limited to: develops department guidelines; establishes archival standards; advances policies and procedures for the operation of the department; advises library administrator on future development and design for the department; initiates outreach efforts and works collaboratively with university departments and divisions; identifies and participates in grant proposals and projects; promotes awareness of the Special Collections department and its collections; assures appropriate archival housing for collections; identifies and prioritizes preservation needs within collection; supervises the work of others; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. The incumbent must have the ability to: demonstrate experience working with archives or special collections; interpret and apply standards in a local setting and initiate appropriate policies, practices and projects; learn new technologies quickly and effectively; successfully train and supervise the work of student assistants; and ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. In addition, the incumbent must also have strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail; and exhibit thorough knowledge of the fundamentals and practices of library services and the conservation of library materials.

Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with Encoded Archival Description (EAD). Experience with computer database development and management. Experience with historical materials. Familiarity with musical scores.
