Assistant Librarian I (Teaching and Learning Support)

Duties : Provide a range of reference and instruction services to support the research, teaching and learning activities of the University community in a dynamic academic environment, which includes developing and implementing programs that enhance teaching and research; collaborate with faculty to develop course-related instruction; assist in library collection analysis, management and development; evaluate the needs of different users; and enhance service quality.  Working on shifts in the evenings and/or on weekends is required.

Requirements : A good honours degree plus a recognized post-graduate professional qualification in Librarianship/Information Science (MLS or equivalent).  At least 5 years' working experience at professional librarian level in a large academic library or in public and frontline customer services is required.  Good administrative and organizational skills, ability to work cooperatively and collegially, and excellent communication and writing skills in English are preferred.

 

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, up to a maximum of US$8,230 per month (12 months' salary per annum with exchange rate of US$1 = HK$7.8).  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes and housing benefits (where applicable).
