Outreach and User Services Librarian

Mohammed VI Library

The mission of the Mohammed VI Library is to provide access to information in support of the education, research, and development activities of Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. The library currently has a collection of over 82,000 books in addition to over 355 national and international academic journals, magazines and newspapers. The library also provides access to a wide variety of electronic resources (full-text electronic books, electronic journals, etc.).


JOB DESCRIPTION


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish policies, standards, and procedures for the Public Services department
  • Provide supervision and annual evaluation for all Public Services staff
  • Coordinate reference and research assistance to faculty, students, and visitors
  • Coordinate public services staff schedule
  • Coordinate internal staff workshops
  • Organize external workshops to enhance library training
  • Provide and evaluate library instruction on a variety of levels
  • Provide staff training and workshops in library instruction
  • Create subject-specific online library resource guides and instructional tools to support research and learning
  • Promote the library through print and electronic outreach campaigns
  • Collaborate with faculty in promoting library research
  • Serve as the library's main liaison with the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill's School of Library and Information Science
  • Participate in library planning and policy development
  • Train and coordinate the work of student employees
  • Other duties as assigned 


Qualifications and Skills

  • Master's Degree in Library or Information Science
  • Excellent English language communication skills
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office software, especially Excel
  • Familiarity with relevant library databases and reference materials
  • Willingness to learn and administer new library-related technologies
  • Ability to respond to staff and patron inquiries in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Commitment to customer service
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a different culture
  • Supervisory experience


Preferred Qualifications

       Experience working with an Integrated Library System (Millennium ILS preferred)

Working Environment

This position may require occasional evening and weekend duties.
