701 Search Australia is looking for a skilled backend developer to join our
small and highly motivated tech team.
We employ sound software engineering practices and paradigms and we want you
to develop beautiful code which is a pleasure to look at and is easy to
maintain.
We offer a full time position at an office with spectacular Sydney views.
Your challenges will be:
- Building and supporting consumer-facing internet environments.
- Developing scalable web solutions for a high traffic web platform. Working
with security on the web comes natural to you.
- Working with large databases in PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL.
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience in operations, systems architecture and design for rapidly
growing web properties.
- Made mistakes and learned from them. You know how to build tools to make
your job easier for you and your colleagues.
Skills & Requirements
--------------------------
You should have at least 3+ years of software development experience, ideally
you hold a university degree or similar qualification in computer science.
Your skillset consist, among other things, of:
- Expert understanding of programming in both high- and lowlevel languages.
- Development for Linux environments.
- Experience in developing web applications.
- Confidence in handling large databases.
- Software development toolchains (Makefiles, GDB) such as version control
(GIT, SVN, BZR) and continous integration.
- Experiences in operating fast growing websites is a plus.

Requirements:
- You should have 5+ years of systems administration experience, with strong
knowledge of:
- LINUX Operating System (RedHat / CentOS)
- Networking and Firewalling (iptables)
- LAPP (Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL, PHP)
- Installation and Administration
Previous experience with the following products would be useful but not
essential:
- Backup Systems
- DNS, VPN, SQUID and Postfix
- Database replication using Slony
Successful candidates should also have experience from all or most of the
below areas:
- Deploying and securing mission critical systems.
- Application, database and storage administration.
- High traffic online services and load balancing
- Building tools to assist users ? scripting skills.
- Databases (Postgres, Oracle or MySQL).
