Senior Assistant Librarian (full-time, 12-month tenure-track appointment), Health Sciences Librarian

Starting Date:

April 3, 2017

Minimum Qualifications:

MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library school.

Experience working in an academic library or clinical library setting. 

Demonstrated experience in providing research, instruction and outreach services to students and faculty in the health sciences or related area.

Practical knowledge of health science information resources and/or academic coursework in the health sciences or related disciplines.

Familiarity with information literacy standards/framework, performance indicators and outcomes.

Strong commitment to public service, flexibility, initiative, creativity and an enthusiasm for working collaboratively.

Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to engage in research, scholarly activity, professional development and service.

Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor or Master's degree in the health sciences or a related discipline.

Two years of professional library experience in an academic library focusing on health sciences or in a medical or health sciences library.

Knowledge of and/or experience in current and emerging trends related to the health sciences.

Collection development experience in the health sciences or related area.

Education or experience with student outcomes assessment in an educational or library setting.

Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their use in the delivery of learner-centered library services and information resources.

Duties:

The California State University, Los Angeles University Library seeks an energetic, innovative and self-motivated librarian to: provide library instruction and research consultation services to the students and faculty in the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services. Collaborate with teaching faculty in the development of digital learning objects and instructional materials related to information literacy in the health science areas; serve as the library subject liaison for the various departments and schools in the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services, which includes evaluating, selecting, and reviewing information resources in relation to the needs of teaching, learning, research and creative inquiries.  Collaborate with other library faculty and administrators to assess the usage, satisfaction and impact of library services on student success. Provide on-call and online/digital reference and research assistance and may contribute to outreach activities.  

Salary:

Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track appointment at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian.
