[LIBJOBS] Open Position - Allen County Public Library - Fort Wayne, IN

The Allen County Public Library has an opening for a Non-print Collection Development Coordinator.  The incumbent must be an individual who has a willingness for professional development; a focus on customer service, a desire to work collaboratively and an ability to utilize technology.

 

Responsibilities: 

• Develop the non-print (video, music, video games, eAudio books, etc) and electronic resource collections in accordance with the goals of the collection development policy in order to provide a collection that meets the community’s needs for adults, teens and children. Includes the responsibility for acquiring, licensing, and accessing all electronic resources.

• Set system-wide goals, philosophies, and expectations for non-print and electronic resource collection development, measure to what extent those goals have been reached by analyzing all collection-related statistical data, and make recommendations for improvements.

• Become well-versed in the use of collection development and management tools and train other staff in using them for collection management purposes.

• Visit all library locations on a regular basis to review the non-print collection and discuss non-print and electronic resource collection development needs with staff.

• Remain up-to-date with new and emerging trends in non-print materials, electronic resources, and collection development by attending relevant conferences or training and reading relevant journals.

• Work closely with the Collection Development Team and Acquisitions to provide guidance and oversight for the collection budget, track spending throughout the year, and suggest changes in the budget for future years based on the current year’s performance.

• Team with Information Technology Services, Technical Services, and the rest of the Collection Development Team to research the integrated library system to understand its intricacies, as well as develop future plans and streamline processes for the integrated library system.

 

Required Qualifications: 

Master’s Degree Required, Field of Study: Library Science from a school accredited by the American Library Association.

2 plus years of experience in collection development and collection management for a multi-location library system.

One plus years of experience working as a librarian, performing public service tasks such as reference desk work and programming.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Must apply for and maintain Indiana Library Certification, earning 50 LEU (Library Education Units) within five years.

 

Compensation: 

This position pays a salary of $47,673.60 and up based on comparable and related experience. Health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability plans. Cumulative sick leave.
