PALM BEACH COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM
Position: LIBRARIAN V (North Area Coordinator)
Salary: $57,408 Annually
Location: Gardens Branch Library
11303 Campus Drive, Palm Beach Gardens
Plans, supervises and coordinates the activities of libraries in the northern Palm Beach County service area, including the branches of Tequesta, Jupiter, Gardens, Okeechobee, Royal Palm Beach and the Acreage. Formulates/interprets/explains library policies and procedures to the public and staff; resolves sensitive public complaints/relations issues. Reviews/edits/summarizes/submits budget recommendations for north area branches. Monitors expenditures; oversees adult programming; supervises the Programming Librarian and Senior Secretary based at the Gardens branch; writes/reviews performance evaluations; issues counseling forms/disciplinary actions; handles employee complaints/grievances; recommends the hiring, promotion and termination of staff; directs the training and staff development of north area supervisory personnel; provides opportunities for staff continuing education; performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association; minimum of four (4) years of professional library experience including three (3) years of professional supervisory/administrative work. Preference given for experience conducting oral presentations/speaking in public; managing a library’s major department/branch; training/supervising personnel for four (4) or more years; in a multi-outlet public library system (must specify on application); using automated circulation systems (must specify on application).
