PALM BEACH COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM

Position:    LIBRARIAN II (Cataloging/Database Management)

Salary:       $45,000 Annually

Location:   Library Annex/Technical Services

                  4289 Cherry Rd., West Palm Beach  FL

 

Performs original and complex copy cataloging of library materials in various formats, including online and digital content, using OCLC Connexion and Sirsi/Dynix. Provides ongoing authority control and database maintenance. Assists with special cataloging projects. Assists in creating and revising local policies, procedures, and documentation. Provides bibliographic training of Library staff. Assists in quality control of outsourced materials and communicates with vendors as necessary to resolve problems and establish policy and procedure.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association; minimum of one (1) year of professional experience.  Preference given for experience with a local online system (Sirsi/Dynix preferred) and OCLC Connexion, knowledge of MARC formats, Dewey Decimal Classification, and cataloging rules and principles. Reading knowledge of Spanish and public library experience desirable.
