The Library of Medicine was established in 1902. The current three-floor facility opened in 1970 and was designated the Leon S. The Library is located on the UNMC campus in midtown Omaha, Nebraska, a major Midwestern city with more than 800,000 people in the metropolitan area. Similarly, in 2012 Kiplinger named Omaha as No. 1 on its list of "Top 10 Great Cities to Raise Your Kids." Founded in 1854, Omaha has seen its riverfront and downtown area experience tremendous growth in recent years, with more than $2 billion invested in new development.  To learn more about the Library of Medicine, UNMC and the Omaha region, click on http://www.gossagesager.com/McGooganLinks.htm .
