This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-11. At the GS-09 grade level, the incumbent performs assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. The incumbent will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-11.  Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.  Promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.

 

The Librarian position will be located at the Executive Division of the National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), White River Junction,  VT, and will serve as Librarian/Research Bibliographer in the PTSD Resource Center.  Duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

·         Research Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) literature/publications to provide to clinician, researchers etc.

·         Searching psychology, psychiatry and social work and or other fields in biomedicine to identify materials to be included in the PILOTS database

·         Evaluating documents to determine relevance to the PILOTS database

·         Facilitate developing and maintaining procedures for obtaining materials and tracking through cataloging, indexing and sorting

·         Use controlled vocabulary to index articles

·         Identify material that is relevant to include into a database on traumatic stress

·         Writing abstracts and/or summaries of documents

·         Entering bibliographic citations into a database

·         Proposing changes to the controlled vocabulary

·         Conducting research to determine the efficacy of proposed controlled language changes

·         Providing advice to users of a bibliographic product

·         And other duties as assigned

 

Work Schedule: Mon - Fri - 8AM - 4:30PM
