CHILDREN'S LIBRARIAN

CORPORATE PARKWAY BRANCH LIBRARY

Wentzville/Lake St. Louis, MO

 

The St. Charles City-County Library District is seeking a creative, energetic librarian to provide Children's Services in a 12,000 square foot branch in Western St. Charles County, MO. The position will include heavy public service duties at a central Reference Desk that serves children and adults. The Children's Librarian will be responsible for selection of children's materials and children's collection management, marketing of children's materials and services in the library and in the community, providing programming in local schools and child care centers as well as in-house programs for children birth to grade 5, forming partnerships with local agencies serving children, presenting programs to parents, childcare providers, and educators on early literacy, children's books, and library services and representing the Library District at community events. The Children's Librarian will also be part of the management team that works closely with the Branch Manager to determine branch needs and improve services to highly valued library customers. This position is also responsible for Children's Services and children's staff.

 

Work schedule will include day, evening and weekend hours. Must have an accredited Masters of Library Science, excellent communication skills, and experience working in public or customer service. Candidate must have experience with children's programming, first-hand knowledge of children's literature, superior readers' advisory skills, and be an engaging storyteller with innovative ideas for bringing children and books together. Excellent benefits; starting salary: $45,540 to $55,464 for MLS, and $51,288 to $62,352 for second masters.

Hennens American Public Library Ratings (HAPLR) as one of the top 10 libraries in the United States serving populations of 250,000 to 499,999 for 10 consecutive years. St. Charles County is a growing suburban community located just west of St. Louis. The annual operating budget is over $19 million with a materials budget is excess of $3 million. With a collection of over 1 million items located in 12 library branches, the St. Charles City-County Library District is a dynamic, progressive library that is growing to serve a population of 360,485, circulates more than 7 million items per year and enjoys having over 2 million library customers use their local libraries.
