Graduate Trainee Library Assistant – fixed 12 month contract full-time position

 

An opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Trainee Library Assistant to join the National Information Service of Baker Tilly. The person appointed will be one of three Library Assistants, in a total team of 10. The National Information Service provides Library, Research, Content and Knowledge support services to 28 offices in the UK, the National Information Service team are based in the Bromley office in South East London.  We are flexible on start date but would hope that it would be somewhere between 11^th July and the first week or two of August.

 

Duties

 

The post provides the opportunity to gain one year's practical experience of working in a busy commercial information service before undertaking a postgraduate course in library/information studies

 

Duties will include the administration of the firm's serial subscriptions, processing of supplier invoices, assisting with money laundering and intelligence checks, updating Intranet pages using a content management system, undertaking basic business information enquiries, assisting with the provision of current awareness services, filing and general office duties and the opportunity to participate in projects.

 

Experience

 

• Good degree in any discipline. The post is aimed for graduates, or those due to graduate in 2011 and who are planning to apply to study for a postgraduate course in Library and Information Studies.
• General computer literacy and Microsoft Office tools experience and use

The position is based in the Bromley office. Bromley is a pleasant and busy suburban town with quick transport links into central London and out into Kent. Depending on projects that become available for the candidate to be involved in, there may be opportunities to travel to other offices within the Baker Tilly network which extend from Lerwick in the Shetland Islands to Bristol in the West.
