Support Engineer

The Encore Services Department is a rapidly growing team within the Customer Services Organization that is responsible for delivering Implementation and Support services on the Encore platform of discovery products. The ideal candidate for this position will thrive in a challenging, dynamic environment where individual and collaborative contributions are expected on a regular basis.

 

This position will be based in the Innovative Interfaces Corporate Headquarters in Emeryville California. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Provide extensive customer support via E-Mail and Phone to libraries using Innovative's Encore software products.

·         Coordinate support of integrated products for Encore systems.

·         Implement and configure options and software for new Encore Installations in production and beta environments.

·         Facilitate communications between development partners, beta partners, and product development.

·         Provide on-site product presentations and introduction services as needed.

·         Provide instruction to Innovative staff on features and functionality of Encore.

·         Assist in the creation and ongoing development of processes and procedural documentation for internal and external Encore Product users.

·         Other service and support tasks as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

·         Computer Science degree or equivalent, MLS, MLIS or working knowledge of library operations strongly preferred.

·         Proficiency with Apache, Tomcat, SQL queries.

·         Strong UNIX experience: understanding of the OS including system monitoring and working in the shell.

·         Familiarity with Web Services models & AJAX technologies.

·         Knowledge of HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, & JavaScript.

·         Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·         Excellent analytic skills.

·         Facility for learning new technologies.

·         Excellent communications and presentation skills.

·         Ability to work independently as well as part of a team with minimal supervision.

·         Ability to work effectively and accurately in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities and deadlines.

·         Ability to do occasional travel (up to 15%)
