[LIBJOBS] USA, Miami, FL, 2 Reference Librarian Positions

The Florida International University Libraries seek energetic, user-focused librarians for two Reference Librarian positions.  These positions are responsible for outreach, reference and instructional services, user support, and collection development. As part of the Reference and Instructional Services Department, the successful candidates will have assigned subject and faculty liaison responsibilities in one or more of the following disciplines: Business, criminal justice, economics, international relations/global studies, political science, public administration and Asian Studies.
 
Position Description:  Both librarians will be members of the Reference and Instructional Services Department and will be expected to participate in professional development, research, and service activities meet the Libraries' and University's requirements for promotion. The successful candidates will provide general, specialized, and virtual reference and research assistance, participate in the libraries' information literacy and instruction program, contribute to collection management activities, and participate in other activities and projects of the libraries.  Weekend hours will be required on a rotating basis.  Both positions report to the Head of Reference and Instructional Services in the Green Library.  
 
Required Qualifications:  Masters degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent by the start of employment; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively across disciplines in a service oriented environment; strong service commitment; understanding of emerging technologies and their applications in an academic library environment, specifically web development and multi-media applications; ability to adapt well to change.  
 
Preferred Qualifications:  Academic background in one or more of the following areas: Business, criminal justice, economics, international relations/global studies, political science, public administration and Asian Studies; instructional, teaching, or training experience in a classroom environment; reference experience.

About the Library:  The Green Library accommodates state-of-the-art information technology, including a Geographic Information Systems Center and a Digital Collections Center.  Total library collections comprise more than 1.6 million volumes, subscriptions to more than 19,000 scholarly journals and access to over 275 databases and services.  The FIU Libraries are in a statewide university consortium.
