Founded in 1919, AUC moved to a new 270-acre state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo in 2008. The University also operates in its historic downtown facilities, offering cultural events, graduate classes, and continuing education. Faculty salary and rank are based on qualifications and professional experience. Job Description:

 The American University in Cairo Libraries and Learning Technologies (LLT) seeks an experienced librarian to provide dynamic leadership in a period of change in the library and university. 

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for the Main Library, the Director for Collections will have leadership, management, and policy and planning responsibilities for collection management functions, including collection development, cataloging/metadata, acquisitions, serials and e-resource licensing and management. In 2008/09, main Library collections spent a total of $1,928,776 on materials in all formats.

Requirements:

 The candidate must have an ALA-accredited MLS, excellent oral and written English, significant record of successful leadership in progressively responsible administrative positions, preferably in an academic library environment, and the ability to effect change in an inclusive management style.

Familiarity with the management uses of Innovative Millennium is desirable.

A second Masters degree, working knowledge of other languages, and experience in a multicultural environment are highly desirable but not mandatory.
