The Department of Public Instruction, the Division for Libraries, Technology and Community Learning, Reference and Interlibrary Loan Team, is currently seeking a Librarian - Interlibrary Loan. The position is located at 2109 South Stoughton Road, Madison.

Job Duties:   
This position is responsible for leadership in planning, promoting, coordinating, and evaluating statewide interlibrary loan activities for Wisconsin libraries. This includes drafting goals and policies; providing consultation and technical assistance to staff in libraries of all types; building productive relationships in the professional community and among existing and prospective resource sharing partners; playing a key role in promotional, marketing and training efforts to broaden awareness of the WISCAT resource sharing program; providing key input on procedures and creation of documentation; and serving on departmental and statewide committees.
Special Notes:    A criminal background check will be conducted prior to an offer of hire.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   
Knowledge of interlibrary loan practices, policies, and procedures; interlibrary loan networks in Wisconsin and other states; public library system operations; the reference process and use of reference materials and general library materials; use of OCLC software and services; use of Auto-Graphics, Inc. Agenct software; use of the QuestionPoint virtual reference chat software; facilitation, coaching, and management techniques; effective working relationships with people; effective speaking and writing techniques; and planning processes. Ability to develop and deliver marketing messages. Skill in interlibrary loan procedures and processes; creating written instructions; helping library users over the telephone; verbal and written communication; and reference procedures and practices.

1) Administering an interlibrary loan program.  Please give specific details such as your role in developing, monitoring and evaluating policies and procedures, your communication with other library staff regarding resource sharing, and addressing issues that impact interlibrary loan.
2) Using resource sharing software. Please give specific details such as the specific software used (OCLC, WISCAT, and other resource sharing software), frequency of use, the educational or professional setting in which you used the software, and your role in providing feedback regarding potential improvements or identifying problems with the software.
3) Developing and delivering marketing messages and providing customer support. Please give specific details such as the audience (including size), subject matter, evaluation of the messages/communication, and any necessary changes that were made to the message/communication to meet the audience needs.
4) Using the Autographics, Inc. Agent software to manage resource sharing via WISCAT. Please give specific details such as the setting in which you used the software and describe whether you created and managed requests for one library, a group of libraries, or as a clearinghouse.  Please describe your level of expertise and experience creating patron or staff accounts, creating patron groups, developing splash pages, creating or modifying preferred lender lists, managing requests created by patrons or staff or recommending modifications of the software or workflow.  Finally, share examples of situations in which you may have resolved issues involving specific individual requests, or the performance of the software.
