[LIBJOBS] USA - Winston-Salem, North Carolina - Wake Forest U. - Electronic Resources Librarian

The Z. Smith Reynolds Library invites applications for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian (ERL). This is a 12-month position with Library Faculty status. Reporting to the Head of Collection Management, the successful applicant will take the lead role in assessment and support of ongoing access to electronic information resources as well as publisher/vendor license negotiations. The ERL will manage key e-resource information systems and will produce and disseminate assessment reports.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Establish and manage excellent publisher/vendor relationships
  • Review and negotiate license agreements to reach favorable pricing and licensing terms
  • Maintain data in the e-resource management system and discovery layer
  • Remedy access problems and violations or breaches of contract
  • Work closely with members of Resource Services (Collection Management and Technical Services) and subject librarians to coordinate trials, acquire new e-resources and maintain access
  • Collect and analyze usage data from local and vendor/publisher sources and create reports to support decision-making
  • Keep current with and contribute to the profession through publication, committees, or other service
  • Serve as liaison to one or more academic departments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or a master's degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Two years of experience in an academic or research library setting, working with vendors and publishers in acquisitions or e-resource management.
  • Familiarity with copyright, fair use and other intellectual property issues as these pertain to e-resources and license agreements.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, prioritization and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in an organization which embraces innovation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with negotiating electronic resource licenses.
  • Proficiency in commonly used technologies and applications including an electronic resource management system, a discovery layer and advanced functions of Microsoft Office.
  • Broad understanding of technical services operations in an academic library.


Salary and Rank: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is appointed to a Library Faculty rank as established by Wake Forest University. Rank at appointment is based on the successful applicant's experience and relevant credentials.
