[LIBJOBS] Singapore – Singapore – Deputy Director, Educational Resources & Technology (College Librarian)

Deputy Director, Educational Resources & Technology (College Librarian)

Responsibilities

The College Librarian is the head leadership position of the Yale-NUS College Library overseeing the library staff, operations, budget, and collection development as well as all public, access, and technical services. The College Librarian executes the Library's strategic initiatives. These include:

·         An ambitious library instruction programme aimed at integrating with the college's innovative curriculum

·         Agile and resourceful access services to get researchers what they need as quickly as possible

·         Confidently pursuing a digital first collection development approach while serving the needs of a faculty conducting world class research in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences

The successful candidate will have experience in all of these areas and will have significant, demonstrable accomplishments in one or more. This is an ideal position for a library leader who believes in the essentiality of information literacy, has an appetite for innovation, and can posit a progressive vision for developing a cross-cultural liberal arts collection that meets ambitious research and curricular demands through the tactical acquisition of digital materials and a space-constrained, limited number of print volumes.

Yale-NUS College is an autonomous college within NUS and the Yale-NUS College Library operates accordingly, under its own direction but as a part of the NUS Libraries system using common cataloguing and processing. The College Librarian manages the relationship with the NUS Central Library.

The College Librarian reports to the Director of Educational Resources and Technology (ERT) and also holds the role of Deputy Director of ERT. In addition to the Library, ERT is also comprised of IT Services and Arts & Media. In the capacity of Deputy Director, the College Librarian assists the Director in overseeing the Learning Commons and promoting the enhancement of teaching and research support through collaboration between library, technology, and media specialists.
