The Allen County Public Library is seeking a highly talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team in a busy Main Library department.

 

Responsibilities

The Readers’ Services Manager is responsible for the effective function of those areas of service concerned with assisting the adult patron in their library needs: i.e. Reference Services, Readers Advisory, Outreach Services, and Interlibrary Loan. Selects, trains, and evaluates performance of departmental personnel, terminating employment when necessary. Assists with material budget. Participates in the development of policies and procedures for the department. Oversees collection management – selection, deselection, and evaluation of materials for department and as the resource collection for the system. Makes presentations to community groups concerning library services. Prepares periodic reports on departmental activities. Works closely with public service managers in developing library services and programs. Prepares reports on department specific topics.

 

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree Required, Field of Study: Library Science

3 plus years of experience in related library/supervisory experience

Must apply for and maintain Indiana Librarian Certification, earning 75 LEU (Library Education Units) within five years.

Problem solving skills sufficient for the management of workflow among employees dealing with the constantly increasing demand for service.

Interpersonal skills sufficient for communicating effectively with a variety of patrons and for effective leadership of full-time employees, part-time employees, and volunteers.

 

Compensation

This position pays a salary of $49,961.60 and up based on comparable and related experience. Health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability plans. Cumulative sick leave.
