The Pennsylvania State University Libraries invite applications for the position of Reference Librarian for the Knowledge Commons, Penn State University Libraries.  The Reference Librarian will provide face-to-face and virtual reference service, market and promote services, and participate in library outreach initiatives. This is a one-year appointment working during the Fall and Spring semesters. Evening and weekend work is required. This faculty position will report to the Head of the Tombros and McWhirter Knowledge Commons.

 

Qualifications:  Requires a Master's of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent); demonstrated commitment to reference services; familiarity with electronic and networked information resources; excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills; and the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations.  Academic library experience, instructional skills, and demonstrated knowledge of academic and library applications of Web 2.0 technologies are desirable.
