[LIBJOBS] 3 Tenure-Track Librarians - Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Concordia University Libraries, Montreal, Québec, seeks applications

from service-minded and innovative individuals to fill appointments for:

3 Tenure-Track Librarians

Humanities - Information Literacy - Sciences

Concordia University is one of Canada’s most dynamic universities in one of North America’s most livable cities. It reflects a unique blend of commitments to diversity, accessibility, social responsibility, and innovation. With over 40,000 students (3,200 international) and nearly 1,800 full-time and part-time professors, Concordia is recognized for offering a rich academic experience combined with strong community engagement.

Concordia University Libraries serves this lively and engaged community from two campus libraries, the Georges Vanier Library at the Loyola Campus and the R. Howard Webster Library at the downtown campus. The Libraries are in the front rank of innovation, from 24/7 service, to e-reserves with media streaming, to information literacy learning for credit. Current projects for the renovation and re-purposing of all spaces, and for the development of a new vision of service, are carrying the Libraries to an exciting future. For more information about the services and operations of the Libraries, see http://library.concordia.ca/.

Tenured and tenure-track librarians provide leadership in developing the Libraries services and operations in support of the university’s strategic framework and academic plan.

The plan calls for a new vision of the Libraries’ academic role, including increased engagement of librarians in instruction of research competencies and information literacy, and in collaboration with faculty in research and creative activity.

Opportunities are provided to each librarian in a variety of areas in the form of annual assignments that recognize and build upon individual expertise and experience. Of the three positions currently open, two include discipline-focused roles (in the humanities and the sciences) while the other is focused on information literacy.

Responsibilities of librarians include research, publication and service to meet requirements for tenure and promotion. Librarians are members of the Concordia University Faculty Association.
