[LIBJOBS] Instructional Design Librarian, McGoogan Library, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE

The McGoogan Library of Medicine, University of Nebraska Medical Center, is seeking an energetic librarian with a background in instructional design who is creative, technologically adept and service oriented.  As a member of the Education and Research Services Department and reporting to the Head of the Education and Research Services Department, the Instructional Design Librarian will assess, design, deliver, and create needs-based, outcome-oriented training and education to support information literacy for UNMC faculty, staff and students.  The individual will serve as a role model and mentor for Reference/Education staff; provide review and feedback of teaching skills; provide instruction in learning theory and pedagogy; and provide reference and literature search assistance.

Minimum requirements:  ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library or Information Science with documented experience in instructional design, or Master’s degree in Education/Instructional Design with relevant library experience; minimum of 3 years of experience in academics or libraries; strong leadership and program management skills and the ability to work both independently and collegially; excellent written and oral communication skills; and demonstrated teaching and presentation skills.  Highly desirable candidates have knowledge of biomedical/health sciences databases and information resources; knowledge of learning technologies and their applications in an academic health sciences environment; demonstrated understanding of instructional design principles in an online environment; experience with course management software; experience creating library-related instructional and informational materials using technology;  and familiarity with web accessibility standards for persons with disabilities;
