Lead Librarian, Collection Development

 

Brodart Co. is currently accepting applications for a Lead Librarian, Collection Development. This position plays a key role in overall delivery of services by the Collection Development (CD) department and provides vision and planning for projects involving the Collection Development systems in order to ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective solutions to meet customer expectations working in partnership with management to align systems and resources with strategic business direction. 

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:  Support the overall operational performance in Collection Development including productivity, backlogs, quality standards, and profitability; Investigate  competitive and industry information and technology affecting Collection Development to increase innovation and ensure compliance to ongoing library requirements and maintain a strong working knowledge of Brodart's business and the business of its customers; Ensure that  projects are managed and monitored throughout the life-cycle of the project; Collaborate with sales force and marketing department to help drive sales growth and use of value added services; Travel to customer sites, industry conferences, or other business venues is required.

 

Education/Skills & Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in library collections, systems,  procedures, principles and methodology of contemporary collection development techniques and including familiarity with library ILS systems and ordering methods preferred ALA-accredited MLS degree and; at least five years' experience  selecting and/or coordinating selection activities in a medium or large public library; Must have intellectual curiosity as well as analytical and PC-computing skills.
