The University Library at TRU, Canada's most comprehensive University, seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented individual to join its dynamic team for a tenure-track position as Systems Librarian beginning on July 1, 2012.

DUTIES:

1. Within a team environment, develop, implement, manage, and support the library's suite of information systems, including SIRSIDynix Symphony Integrated Library System, link resolvers, e-resource discovery systems, authentication systems, and interlibrary loan management system.

2. Research, assess, and implement current and new technologies to support or enhance library services.

3. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve e-resource access problems.

4. Work collaboratively with the University IT Services department.

5. Develop and deliver instruction and skills development sessions to faculty and staff on systems features and software applications.

6. Develop documentation to share with library staff.

7. Create reports and extract management data from library software as needed; assist colleagues in designing and running reports for their own needs; provide statistical reports as requested.

8. Coordinate, develop, maintain, and evaluate library systems policies and procedures.

9. Advise and work collaboratively with the University Library Director and librarians on best practices related to systems and emerging technologies.

10. Participate and contribute to the Library's team organization.

11. Provide face-to-face and/or virtual reference and research assistance.

12. Participate in collection development.

13. Participate in ongoing professional development activities.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

15. May involve evening and weekend work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program required

· Minimum of two (2) years' experience with administering library systems and technologies required

· Knowledge of current trends and issues in library systems and information technology, and demonstrated skills in managing and developing systems required

· Knowledge of e-resource management systems and link resolvers required

· Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems required

· Familiarity with authentication systems and issues surrounding authentication in libraries preferred

· Knowledge of SIRSIDynix Symphony integrated library system preferred

· Experience with Z39.50, CSS, JavaScript, and PERL preferred

· Knowledge of MARC record formats and MARC bibliographic and serials formats preferred

· Strong analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills for complex applications

· Strong leadership abilities, communication and interpersonal skills to manage projects, work with teams, provide application training, and liaise with vendors and other departments

· Demonstrated project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

· SIRSI API training preferred
