San Jacinto College is a public community college system in the Houston area. At the heart of the San Jacinto College learning experience are its three campuses, located to provide easy access for all citizens of the San Jacinto College District. Position Title: Reference Librarian
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an American Library Association accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some experience providing reference services in a library is preferred.
Familiarity with a variety of standard library reference and research resources, both electronic and in print, is desirable.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Access is essential.
Experience with III’s Millennium integrated library system is desirable.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Provides reference service in person, online, by telephone, and by email to students, faculty, administrators, and the general public.
Plans, coordinates, and delivers bibliographic instruction (library instruction) for classes and individuals on a regular basis.
Conducts bibliographic research for Interlibrary Loan (ILL), submitting, tracking, and completing ILL borrowing requests.
Engages in collection development in a variety of subject areas.
Serves as liaison with campus academic and vocational/technical education departments and programs to identify library materials and resources needed to support their curricula.
Other duties as required and assigned.
Work hours:
Twelve (12) month position
Forty (40) hours per week
Monday through Friday
8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Must be available for evening and weekend hours as needed.
