About The American University in Cairo:

Job Description:
The American University in Cairo Libraries and Learning Technologies (LLT) seeks a dynamic person with proven leadership and management qualities to manage the library's overall Collections operations and encourage an environment for creative excellence. The AUC Library holds the largest English-language collection in Egypt and serves the AUC and local scholarly community.
 Working closely with and reporting to the Associate Dean, Main Library, the Director for Collections will provide strong and effective administrative leadership in the areas of collection development, acquisitions, cataloging/metadata, and continuing resources. The Director for Collections will be responsible for planning and implementation of new and existing services in collection management, electronic resources, cataloging and metadata services, and acquisitions. The Director for Collections is responsible for administering the Main Library's collections budget of approximately USD 2M, as well as any additional amounts earmarked for support of specific programs; responsible for materials budget projection and analysis.  The Director serves as a member of the Libraries' and Learning Technologies management team; contributes to strategic planning, budget planning and resource allocation in support of the Libraries' mission.

Requirements:
The candidate must have an ALA-accredited MLS, or international equivalent; at least ten years' successful leadership in progressively responsible administrative positions preferably in academic libraries; experience in resource allocation and budget preparation, a demonstrated success in human resource management, including the ability to engage staff in improvement and change. A second Masters degree, working knowledge of other languages, and experience in a multicultural environment are highly desirable but not mandatory.

Additional Information:
This is a Faculty appointment at the rank of Instructor.
