Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Clinical Planning Consultant for Library Services, the Technical Analyst - Library will assist with all Library planning activities including providing direct advanced technical support for professional staff (i.e. librarians) via assigned tasks including triage of information requests, setting up library orientation or teaching schedules, circulation, shelving, inventory and maintenance of collections, acquisitions and ordering, document delivery, website maintenance. Above all, he/she will ensure that quality technical support services will be provided in an efficient, safe and culturally competent manner, consistent with the unit's planned standards.  The Technical Analyst - Library also participates as required with recruiting, commissioning, on-boarding, orientation and service activation responsibilities in accordance with project plans and timelines and which may extend into hospital operations. 
Key Accountabilities:
  1. Performs advanced duties of one or more areas of library technical services operations such as collection support, document delivery, website maintenance and/or circulation.
  2. Provides direct technical support for clinical librarians via assigned tasks including finalizing collections to ensure efficient acquisitions and ordering process followed through with testing online access and reporting any problems for resolution.
  3. Works under the guidance of the systems librarian to develop policies and procedures related to document delivery, website maintenance, and set-up of circulation module within the integrated library system.
  4. Provides ongoing support for librarians by assisting with all planned related library activities.
  5. Functions as a resource and is accountable for the efficiency and quality of technical support services  for librarians and basic information services provided to prospective library clients and for professional practice in accordance with Sidra policies and procedures.
  6. Reports unit activities, progress and potential problems to the Senior Clinical Planning Consultant - Library Services.
  7. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in the use of all resources.
  8. In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within Sidra during this start-up phase, this position may perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL
  • Certificate or Diploma in Library Technician Studies.
  • 2 years of library experience, preferably within a medical/life sciences library.
  • Demonstrated familiarity (knowledge and skills) with current technology related to library technical services.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of library users including faculty, researchers,  clinicians, students (from affiliated institutions), administrators and staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Experience in organizing data (e.g. statistics) for use in library reports.
DESIRABLE
  • Experience in one or more areas of library technical services operations.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in situations that warrant individual interpretation of library policies and procedures.
  • Effective planning and organizing with the ability to exercise discretion, attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Possesses the initiative and flexibility needed to adapt and work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Has a conceptual understanding of cataloging and HTML standards.
  • Ability to promote a positive work environment as evidenced by working collaboratively and demonstrating a professional and supportive attitude toward others.
