Limited Term Appointment

 

FROM MID-FEBRUARY TO MAY 31, 2013

 

 

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES seeks a service-minded and innovative librarian for the newly created limited term appointment position of SPECIAL PROJECTS LIBRARIAN. The successful candidate assists in the planning, implementation and assessment of a number of special projects, with an emphasis on space management, that will facilitate, enhance, and complement the delivery of library services to users; develops and prepares analysis and other documents related to the management of special projects; works evenings and week-ends, as required; performs other duties as may be assigned.

The SPECIAL PROJECTS LIBRARIAN reports to the DIRECTOR, WEBSTER LIBRARY.

Librarians holding limited-term appointments may apply for a subsequent appointment, given continued funding and need, as well as satisfactory job performance. Together, the initial appointment and subsequent appointments may not exceed 36 months or a span of three consecutive years.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Assists the DIRECTOR, WEBSTER LIBRARY, in the planning, implementation and assessment of temporary special projects, with an emphasis on space management, that will facilitate, enhance, and complement the delivery of library services   to users.

2. Develops and prepares analysis, progress reports, proposals, project schedules and other documents needed for the fulfillment of the Libraries’ special projects.

3. Assists in the development and implementation of workflows for the execution of project activities.

4. Prepares and maintains project management tools to ensure the follow up of ongoing projects.

5. Assists in creating status reports based on the feedback from projects contributors.

6. Performs and reports on quality controls of planned activities deliverables.

7. Interacts with internal and external stakeholders and contributors.

8. Creates communication documents and tools (print and digital) related to projects for public and internal uses.

9. Participates in library committees, as required.

10. May perform other duties, as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

A graduate degree from a library school accredited by the American Library Association, or approved equivalent education and training acceptable for membership in the Corporation of Professional Librarians of Québec.

Experience or knowledge of project management.

Strong organizational and problem solving skills and strong service orientation.

Ability to work in team environment where consultation, flexibility, creativity and cooperation are essential.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.

Experience using MS Word, Excel and project management tools.

Must have outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, be enthusiastic and persuasive.

Oral and written fluency in English is essential. Oral fluency in French and basic written French are assets.

SALARY

 

$48,794.00.
