Eastern Kentucky University Libraries is inviting applications for a Reference and Instruction Librarian and Team Leader.
Teaching Librarians to Teach: On-The-Job Training for Bibliographic Instruction Librarians


The successful candidate will bring evidence of experience managing a diverse staff, a strong service orientation, superior problem-solving skills and evidence of innovation in planning. The incumbent will direct the Library's instruction program and will lead and manage a team of five library faculty with reference and instruction responsibilities. In collaboration with other library faculty, the Team Leader will oversee the delivery of traditional and emerging reference services at Eastern Kentucky University and will work in partnership with the Noel Studio. The successful candidate will lead and participate in the design and implementation of online instruction tools for use in our learning management systems.
Other Responsibilities include teaching library instruction sessions; designing web-based instruction modules; providing mentoring, support and training for librarians on the Reference Team; managing desk and IM scheduling; providing direction and support to one paraprofessional and two graduate assistants; participating in the Library's liaison program; and serving on committees including the advisory committee for the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity.
Requirements include an ALA-accredited master's degree in Library or Information Science and evidence of 3-5 years of progressively responsible management experience. Assistant or Associate rank will be determined by the successful applicant's education and experience credentials.
