Library Assistant – The College of New Rochelle, Gill Library

The College of New Rochelle is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented individual to fill the position of Library Assistant.  This is a full-time, support staff position, available immediately, reporting to the Associate Dean of Gill Library. 

Responsibilities for this position include:

·         Maintenance and quality control of the library’s ILS including deletion of bibliographic records in III Millennium and OCLC systems

·         Preparation and inventory control of item records for all materials added to the collection

·         Supervision of the physical preparation, final check and shipment of materials added to the collection

·         In-house repair of materials

·         Removal of outdated materials for withdrawal

·         Monthly check of links contained in ILS records

·         Maintain and update monthly and yearly statistics for Technical Services and Reserves

·         Create, edit and delete bibliographic records in ILS for items to be on Reserve

·         Add, remove and maintain reserve material (print and electronic) using the Docutek ERes system (including permanent reserve items)

·         Maintain files on materials that are added/removed from reserves each semester

·         Maintain correspondence via email with faculty regarding items that have been posted/removed from ERes

·         Works directly with Reserve Librarian and Technical Services Librarian pertaining to each department

·         Supervises 1-2 student aides

·         Other projects as assigned including but not limited to circulation desk coverage when needed

 

Required Qualifications:  Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated ability to manage technical projects; demonstrated commitment to customer service and collaborative approaches; ability to work independently, managing a complex workload in an on time, effective manner with minimum supervision; ability to work well as part of a team; firm commitment to the Library’s Statement of Objectives and College Mission.  Prior library experience required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:   Experience with integrated library systems (preferably Innovative Interfaces Inc. and Docuteck ERes).

 

Salary and Benefits:  commensurate with experience
