12-month non-tenure track
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide vision and direction for all aspects of the Library's website. Work collaboratively with library faculty and staff to maintain high quality online services and resources. Provide leadership in developing web-based applications.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
● Administer the Library's web server
● Manage other Library web systems including EZproxy, Libstats
● Collaborate with library faculty and staff in investigating leading-edge technologies, testing software, and recommending and implementing appropriate systems in support of Library web services
● Ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements, and university and library policies on web site usage, security, and standards
● Manage US federal depository, SC state depository, and US Dept. of Energy Reading Room documents collections
● Provide reference services for government documents collections and the main library collections
● Participate actively in information literacy instruction program
● Participate actively in Library and campus planning and governance through committee service
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
● Master's in library science from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
● Experience managing web servers and applications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Website design and maintenance experience, including knowledge of established and emerging web usability and accessibility standards.
● Experience with Linux and open source web based applications including the Apache web server program, PHP, MySQL, wikis, and other web content management systems.
● Experience with government documents collections and knowledge of US Federal Depository Library Program guidelines and requirements.
● Knowledge of and experience with reference, library instruction, and collection development.
● Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in library and information science and systems administration.
● Knowledge of issues and trends in educational technology.
● Strong oral and written communication skills.
Salary: $40,000 – 42,000 depending upon qualifications.
