[LIBJOBS] Austin, Texas, USA-- Biosciences Librarian and Physical Sciences & Mathematics Librarian

Dear IFLA list,

The University of Texas Libraries seeks two (2) Science Librarians to provide innovative research and instructional support services to the College of Natural Sciences and the broader academic community, the Biosciences Librarian, with a focus in the biological sciences, and the Physical Sciences and Mathematics Librarian, with a focus in physics, astronomy, mathematics, and related interdisciplinary areas

Both positions offer opportunities for creative and strategic approaches to the selection, teaching, discovery, and delivery of information resources and research lifecycle support for the biological sciences and related interdisciplinary areas.  Primary responsibilities include: Liaison to designated departments and research centers within the College of Natural Sciences; provide reference services in all appropriate media, including individual and small group research consultation; manage collections in support of relevant curricula and research; develop content of subject-based web pages; collaborate with faculty to achieve information literacy learning goals, including providing course-specific instruction, consultation on assignments, and creating digital research guides and/or tutorials; collaborate with faculty in relevant academic units to support the research enterprise; engagement with all users in areas of scholarly communication, including open access, e-Science, and data management services; plan for the repurposing of library spaces; identify development opportunities; and market and assess library services.  The successful candidates will be flexible and creative self-starters who are energetic, entrepreneurial, customer-focused, ready to take on new roles in a collaborative, fast-paced, and change-oriented environment, and willing to take the lead in new initiatives and projects.

 

Salary and Benefits:  $55,000 annually or more, depending on qualifications and experience.  No state or local income tax.  Standard state benefits package including annual vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, retirement plans, and health insurance options (comprehensive major medical and HMO plans, dental, vision, life, and disability).  Deferred compensation and tax sheltered annuity programs also available.
