With more than four million items in its collection, the Leddy Library is integral to the University’s research and academic programs, and is a leader in the introduction of emerging technologies.

The University Librarian is a member of the University’s senior management team, and will articulate a strategic vision to develop innovative library services and core collections to meet the needs of Windsor’s campus community.  Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the University Librarian will manage the library’s $12 million annual budget and 67-member staff, including 20 professional librarians.

The University Librarian must be an exceptional communicator and relationship builder. S/he will demonstrate a broad understanding of emerging trends in academic librarianship and higher education, especially the ways in which librarian expertise can provide significant benefit to both faculty and students. S/he must have an in-depth knowledge of information technologies and the rapidly-evolving opportunities and challenges they present. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in planning and budgeting in an environment of fiscal restraint.

The University Librarian will be specifically accountable for realizing and promoting a collective vision and sense of shared mission for the Library, while ensuring alignment with the University's strategic direction. S/he will: develop and implement a human resource plan that respects the unionized workplace and our commitment to diversity; implement new information technologies that support research, teaching, and learning while building on the Library's reputation as a leader in Open Access models of information access, knowledge creation and dissemination; represent the Library internally and externally, nurture relevant strategic alliances, and cultivate new sources of funding.

To explore this exciting and challenging leadership opportunity with a full benefits package and term of office for up to five years, contact Anna Stuart or Kathryn Morse at 1-888-822-6022. To apply, please submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae at http://jobs.kbrs.ca/Careers/10602/ or c/o the Search Committee at the University of Windsor, 401 Sunset Avenue, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, N9B 3P4.
