MITRE's Information Services department seeks an innovative and dynamic Information Analyst to work with our successful InfoCenter Services team within the Corporation. The Information Services department is responsible for working across MITRE to provide information services such as environmental customer scans, research analyst services, digital libraries, InfoDesk Services, and SharePoint stewardship. Within this realm, this individual would be responsible for working with the InfoDesk Team Lead and colleagues to provide information support to MITRE's work programs. They will be required to have experience and understanding of information practices that translate into successful products and solutions that meet the needs of our customers. They would be responsible for contributing to the InfoCenter Services strategic plans and initiatives.

 

Goals

•Apply knowledge of research practices within a dynamic InfoCenter Services team

•Apply technologies used in state-of-the art information organizations

•Understand and use social media platforms to advance the awareness of InfoCenter Services within MITRE

•Support KICS and CI&T’s knowledge driven enterprise strategies with relevant knowledge management experience.

•Deliver exceptional customer service

•Provide training on tools and information resources

•Provide content stewardship expertise and project management support in the creation and maintenance of digital collections on various platforms such as SharePoint.

•Contribute to cross-departmental technology project workflows and participate in identifying information delivery development opportunities.

• Support projects that collect or highlight corporate research in digital formats.

•Apply knowledge of current trends and developments in digital collections, institutional repositories, academic publishing, and data analysis.

 

Key Functions

•Participate in providing reference and research services through regular duty at the InfoDesk and by responding to requests using the full range of available resources

•Compile citations or articles of current literature on topic, technology, or industry for awareness/research purposes.

•Effectively use complex search strategies, or exercise knowledge of specialized information resources and databases.

•Demonstrated understanding of copyright policies and law.

•Experience in a corporate, government, or academic organization supporting engineers and other highly technical professionals.

•Understanding of the role of the Library and the needs of its customers with a proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients to understand and anticipate their information needs & resolve problems in a resourceful and timely manner.

•Strong interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across level and function

•Experience with innovative uses of technology and possess the ability to acquire new technological skills

•Familiarity with enterprise collaboration platforms like SharePoint and content management systems like Drupal.

•Understanding the role of technology in library functions and services; ability to apply technology, such as 3D printers and Makerspaces, in functional areas that function as a community.

•Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

•Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, to solve problems creatively, and to effectively build partnerships and promote the benefits of change in a corporate culture that often values diversity of opinion, chain of command and historic precedent.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science (or related field.) At least 1-5 years of professional experience in information delivery, building and maintaining customer relationships, and utilizing new technologies to advance the skills of a multifaceted service operation.

 

Travel Statement

*This position will require overnight travel up to 10 % of the time as well as some local travel.

 

Clearance Statement

Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, MITRE will consider only applicants with security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
