Youth Services Librarian

Muncie Public Library, Muncie, Indiana

 

Applications are now being accepted for a full time Youth Services Librarian.

 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION

Provides customer service, programming, and outreach in Youth Services.  Assists in development and maintenance of children’s and young adult’s branch collection.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Seeks and coordinates outreach opportunities to educational groups and community organizations.

Plans, creates and implements programs.

Coordinates Youth Services, volunteers and employees in absence of supervisor.

Assists in development and maintenance of children’s and young adult’s print and audiovisual collections.

Hires, supervises, schedules, trains and appraises employees as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

MLS, MIS or MLIS from an ALA accredited program, an Indiana Certificate 3 or higher certification or ability to obtain Indiana Librarian Certificate 3 or higher within six months of start date required.  Paid work experience or volunteer experience with children and/or young adults required.   Excellent computer, researching, communication and interpersonal skills required.  Customer service skills required.  Prior work experience in a library and in a customer service position preferred.

 

Compensation:  The hiring salary range: $35,520-$43,704 based on experience with benefits package.
