Position Summary

The University of Arizona Libraries in Tucson seeks a dynamic, innovative Assistant Dean for Administrative Services, a new senior management position with the primary responsibility of providing leadership and strategic direction.  Major responsibilities are to lead the Library Operations Resources Management (LORM) Team in Human Resources and Business and Financial Operations.  Position oversees Assessment, Data Coordination, Project Management, and Staff Organizational Support.  Assistant Dean is a member of the Libraries Cabinet (policy and management team) and manages the work of one librarian and twelve classified staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  2. At least 5 years’ experience in managing financial and human resources prudently and responsively to do things more effectively and less expensively while investing in areas critical to the University’s long-term success,
  3. Evidence of effective leadership and management skills in an academic library environment.
  4. Demonstrated experience in managing Human Resources unit at a high level in an academic or similar environment
  5. Demonstrated experience in employment policy administration.
  6. Evidence of knowledge of and relevant experience with HR policies, regulations, and current practices and application.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of and relevant experience in managing budget and financial operations.
  8. Active scholarship and professional service sufficient for appointment at least at the Associate Librarian level for continuing status; otherwise appointment is year-to-year (non-rank).
  9. Evidence of continued professional growth and active contributions to the human resources or other related professional activities applicable to this position.
