EPFL is conducting a search for the position of
Head Librarian (100%)
EPFL is one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology. With the status of a national school since 1969, the young engineering school has grown in many dimensions, and is now ranked among Europe's most reputed institutions of science and technology. It has three core missions: education, research and technology transfer.
The Rolex Learning Center, inaugurated in 2010, is the flagship building of the school. It houses a unique and modern science library, offering a full range of innovative and more traditional information services.
The Head Librarian, reporting to the Director of Education, will have the mission of leading the Library and scientific information services of EPFL, in order to support the research and educational activities of its community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the Library team and services, including human resources management and finances
- Plan and develop specific projects that fulfill the strategies defined by the EPFL Direction (Institutional repository, cooperation with libraries at regional, national and international levels, …)
Profile:
- University degree in LIS and in science & technology or in humanities & social sciences
- Demonstrated experience in management and significant Library or information service leadership at both national and international levels
- Experience in and very good understanding of the academic environment
- Leadership, sense of initiative and social skills
- Fluency in French and English, German highly desirable
