Job Summary/Basic Function:  The Public Services Librarian is responsible for the delivery and supervision of reference and circulation services. Works with other librarians to develop and deliver library bibliographic instruction. Shares in reference desk duties; participates in collection development; and provides research support to faculty and staff. This position is responsible for maintaining and updating the GPC Decatur Library website.   Required Experience:  Three (3) years public services/reference experience required; successful supervisory experience with a commitment to mentoring, training and staff development. Academic library experience preferred; demonstrated experience with collection development and bibliographic instruction required. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.   Required Education:  Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA institution required.   Preferred Qualifications:  Must have a working knowledge of electronic resources, informational resources and online library systems (the library currently uses Endeavor); knowledge of GALILEO is desirable. The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of current library trends and innovations. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. A working knowledge of FrontPage is preferred.   Physical Requirements:   Position requires local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing.
