POSITION OPENING – Assistant Library Director/Reference Librarian The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library in Whitewater, Wisconsin, is seeking an experienced, energetic, customer-focused librarian to be the Assistant Library Director and Reference Librarian. Irvin L. Young Memorial Library has a service population of 15,500. We are located in northwest Walworth County and are a member of the Mid-Wisconsin Federated Library System and the SHARE consortium, which encompasses Dodge, Jefferson, Racine, Walworth, and Washington counties.
The position requires an MLS from an ALA-accredited institution plus a minimum of three years of professional library experience. One to three years of management and supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish desirable.
Candidates are expected to possess strong supervisory and training skills, team-player and leadership skills, excellent reference and readers' advisory knowledge and skills, effective communication and organizational skills, and knowledge of current library and technology trends. Candidates are also expected to be eligible for Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Grade One (1) Library Certification.
Salary range is $43,983 – 51,978 depending on qualifications. Position is 40 hours per week, days, nights, and weekends. Benefits include paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, health insurance, life insurance, retirement, and deferred compensation.
