[LIBJOBS] Open Position - Assistant Branch Manager, Allen County Public Library - Fort Wayne, IN USA


ACPL is searching for an energetic and organized assistant manager to work in our beautiful and extremely busy Georgetown Branch. This position will provide assistance to customers of all ages – including reference, reader’s advisory and technical help; be responsible for collection development of the branch’s non-print collections and other areas; assist with the development and evaluation of the branch’s practices and procedures to provide excellent service; plan and implement innovative programs for adults and others in our new Maker Lab; perform community outreach and serve on system wide committees; hire, train, and evaluate the branch’s circulation staff, shelvers & volunteers; assist with day-to-day management of the branch; supervise the branch in the absence of the manager.



ALA-accredited master of library science degree. At least three years of post-MLS experience required.

Indiana Driver’s License

Strong reference & reader’s advisory skills. Dedication to providing superlative customer service. Comprehensive understanding of current trends & best practices in STEM related programing, technology, and social networking as they apply to libraries. Strong interpersonal communication skills for working with children and adults. Keen ability to listen actively. Cooperative spirit, enthusiasm, friendliness, energy, resourcefulness, initiative, tact, good judgment, project planning, strong organizational skills, and a sense of humor are essential.

If job is accepted, must apply for and maintain Indiana Librarian Certification, earning 75 LEU (Library Education Units) within five years.
