Health Sciences Librarian


The Arizona State University Libraries invite applications for a health sciences librarian to work at the Downtown Phoenix campus Library.  Working in a dynamic environment, the librarian will collaborate with another health sciences librarian to promote the discovery, use and integration of library resources and services to faculty, staff and students in ASU’s College of Health Solutions and the College of Nursing and Health Innovation.  The librarian should be a self-starter and able to work independently and collaboratively in a changing academic environment.  Responsibilities include: reference service, faculty liaison, and other specialized public services (orientation, instruction and advanced reference) for all health sciences programs.  The health sciences librarian  works as a member of a single, collaborative organization and serves students, faculty, and staff at Arizona State University on all four campuses, as well as online.  The librarian reports to the Director, Downtown Phoenix campus Library.  This is a continuing track academic professional position, and the health sciences librarian participates in professional development, contribution, and service activities in keeping with the criteria for promotion and continuing status.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         ALA accredited Master of Library/Information Sciences degree to be completed by date of hire;

·         knowledge of and/or training in the use of current information resources in medicine, nursing and allied health sciences.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Post-MLS work experience in a health sciences library or an academic library as a health sciences information or subject specialist;

·         experience working in an academic, research, medical or special library;

·         experience in providing reference and/or instruction using evidence-based practice methodologies;

·         experience developing collaborative partnerships with primary clientele and/or health sciences communities;

·         experience with and/or knowledge of e-science and research data management services;

·         experience with current instructional technologies; strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Salary: $49,000 minimum; rank of Assistant or Associate, depending on experience
