Technical Services Librarian - Electronic Resources

The Information Resource Center (IRC) at Jacobs University Bremen invites applications for the full-time position of a

Technical Services Librarian – Electronic Resources (f/m)

Responsibilities:

·         Manage our large electronic resources collection using an electronic resource management system (Verde), link resolver (SFX), and integrated library management system (Innovative Interfaces Millennium)

·         Manage and monitor the electronic resource product life cycles through trial, evaluation, purchase and renewal to ensure compliance and functionality

·         Negotiate licenses for databases, e-journals and e-journal packages

·         Collaborate with library staff in developing, cataloguing and maintaining the electronic resources collection

·         Liaise with vendors to ensure that access and licensing issues are promptly addressed and resolved

·         Keep abreast of developments, trends and issues in all areas of responsibilities

Required qualifications:

·         Library degree (Master, Diplom/Bachelor, or equivalent)

·         Experience managing electronic resources in an academic or research library

·         Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Proficiency in English and German (at least C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

·         Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Preferred qualifications:

·         Working knowledge of an ERM system and/or link resolver (preferably Verde/SFX), and an integrated library management system

·         Experience in acquisition of print and online resources

·         Familiarity with consortial and national license models in Germany
