Interlibrary Loan Librarian

The Information Resource Center (IRC) at Jacobs University Bremen invites applications for the full-time position of an

Interlibrary Loan Librarian (f/m)

Responsibilities:

·        Manage and coordinate interlibrary loan (ILL) services at Jacobs University

·        Instruct patrons regarding ILL and circulation services, electronic resource access, and library usage

·        Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff

·        Communicate with patrons and national and international libraries in both written and spoken German and English

·        Actively maintain the library website and internal documentation regarding interlibrary loan services, policies, and workflows

·        Provide daily circulation support duties

Required qualifications:

·        Library degree (Diplom/Bachelor or equivalent)

·        Familiarity with ILL procedures in an academic or research library in Germany

·        Working knowledge of electronic information resources (library catalogs, bibliographic databases and other online information resources)

·        Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·        Proficiency in English and German (at least B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

·        Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Preferred:

·        Experience in supervising student assistants

·        Working knowledge of a library management system

·        Experience editing web content

·        Knowledge of current copyright trends and ILL practices in Germany and worldwide
