Hello everyone.
Brooklyn College, one of the senior colleges of the City University of New York, seeks an Associate Librarian for Information Services. This is a senior management position, at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. The person will be responsible for overseeing the work of a unit of 10 tenured and tenure-track librarians with reference, instruction, and collections responsibilities, among other things. The position reports directly to the Chief Librarian & Executive Director of Academic Information Technology. The full posting is available online at http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/bc/offices/personnel/jobs/titles/desc/faculty/faculty%2010/LibrarianID2259.htm
However, I’d like to add 2 points, as we have run into a little confusion, and I’d like to save people some time and trouble. First, candidates lacking a second Masters degree (in addition to the Masters degree in library and information science, or the equivalent by another name) and supervisory experience cannot be considered; these are requirements for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor in a supervisory role at Brooklyn College, according to our bylaws and the union contract. Second, incomplete applications cannot be considered: candidates should make sure that they submit 3 letters of recommendation (not simply a list of references) with their applications. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you.
