Systems Technician/Operations Assistant I

Duties:

The Systems Technician/Operations Assistant I, under the general supervision of the Desktop Operations Manager, provides first tier, hands-on support for over 1200 desktop computing devices in the Libraries. The environment includes Windows and Mac desktop and laptop computers, iOS and Android mobile devices, printers, scanners, cameras, and other computing peripherals. Technicians set up, configure, and fully maintain desktop computing devices and peripherals. Technicians diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and operations issues, and ensure that clients are returned to expected levels of operation. Frequently, work involves direct contact with clients to analyze and resolve reported issues. Technicians install, configure, and customize software and software configurations, as needed. Work is documented in the Libraries Helpdesk tracking system, and Technicians are responsible for preparing and providing written documentation and instructional materials for use by clients, technicians, and other operations staff. The Libraries have a distributed environment with 12 facilities – Technicians travel between these locations, and occasionally move equipment manually.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience providing desktop computing support, with the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software and connectivity problems preferred.

Demonstrated ability in the following areas highly desirable: A) Desktop operating systems; B) Installation, configuration and support of desktop applications; C) Desktop and peripheral hardware diagnostics; D) Network connectivity.

This position will require excellent problem solving, communication and customer service skills. Knowledge and/or experience with library operations helpful. Ability to lift and carry > 25lbs. This position requires a valid driver's license in order to drive to various Library locations on short notice.


Hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, The ability to work Nights and Weekends may be required, along with coverage during Holiday Break when Library is open.

Compensation and Benefits:
