[LIBJOBS] Job Posting: Information Literacy and Resource Access Librarian, Athabasca Alberta Canada

The purpose of this position is to support the University's information literacy initiatives and to ensure the availability of Library resources. As such, the position is responsible for: creating of information literacy tutorials; promoting of information literacy within the university; working with faculty, course development teams and learning designers to integrate information literacy into the curriculum; providing reference and instruction services in a backup capacity; managing authority control activities to ensure that resources are easily discoverable; maintaining and updating the Library's web catalogue interface; and original cataloging of new Library resources, with a focus on media resources.


The position reports to the Head, Technical Services and Systems and works closely with the Head, Information Literacy and Public Services. The incumbent backs up the Head, Technical Services and Systems when needed.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must have a Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution in addition with two years of experience working in an academic library with an orientation towards services to users. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.
