Assistant Librarian / Assistant Librarian II (Ref. 16051802-E3)
Duties
The Pao Yue-Kong Library is seeking a creative and dynamic library professional to develop and enhance its instructional and liaison programmes.

Reporting to the Section Head (User Experience & Outreach), the appointee will be required to
(a) serve as a Faculty Librarian to provide instructional and research consultative services to students and staff of the assigned Faculty or Schools;
(b) explore and deploy emergent technologies and media to promote information literacy and liaison with the university community;
(c) collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy programmes into academic curriculum;
(d) participate in collection development of library materials in physical and online formats within assigned disciplines;
(e) attend the Research Help Desk and handle enquiries received from various channels;
(f) prepare library guides and instructional materials in various formats;
(g) perform shift duties; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or his/her delegates.

Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree with postgraduate qualification in Library Science or Information Science;
(b) have substantial years of post-qualification experience in information work in an academic library setting;
(c) have demonstrated ability to use teaching technologies effectively;
(d) have excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills; and
(e) be self-initiated and a good team player.

Candidates with less experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Librarian II.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
